It’s that time of year again and the sea turtle nesting season is in full swing!  Sea turtle nests on Jekyll Island are marked, protected with wire, and monitored by The Georgia Sea Turtle Center.  Females lay three to five nests a year and the hatchlings will emerge after about a 60 day incubation period.  According to the turtle patrol, 11 loggerhead sea turtles emerged from the water to nest on June 16th, on Jekyll Island alone.  They must have been celebrating World Sea Turtle Day!  To report an injured, sick, or dead sea turtle in GA, please call:
